The utilities of zinc oxides (ZnO for short) are numerous, with the rubber industry accounting for >50% of the ZnO usages. ZnO, in conjunction with a fatty acid like stearic acid, are responsible for an accelerated sulfur-based vulcanization of rubber. Various grades of ZnO exist with differing purity, particle size, surface area activity, and surface treatment options.
